2022 Reading Goals

Hey bookish Friends! I have changed up my reading goals and challenges for this year. I know I had a series challenge, a book to screen challenge and even a read everything by the author challenge, but I realized that not only is that just too much pressure, I also have a ton of books in my shelves at home that I need to get to! My goal for the year is a bit easier now because I want reading to be fun, not an assignment. My new reading goals are below:

I will prioritize my book club reads. My book club reads are below in the order that they will be read.

UVA's

Erotic Stories for Punjabi WidowsThe Love Hypothesis

BBB

It Ends with UsThe Spanish Love Deception

I will also start working on my PHYSICAL TBR SHELFI realized that I have 100+ books in my house that I have not read. So I will be reading from those this year.

Books Read in January 2022

Books Read in February 2022

I told myself that I would not purchase anymore books this year but that is kind of a lie, there will be BOTM books coming in monthly. I refuse to cancel my subscription. Also, my best-friend is buying me books monthly via the The Book Drop, thank you best-friend. I am trying to purchase books from my TBR shelf for her so that we can do some more buddy-reads even though we are in a book club together and will be reading The Book Drop books together. I'm just addicted to buying books. I am also addicted to reading books. If anyone wants to fuel my addiction my amazon bookish wish-list is right here

Last but not least, I will also join POPSUGAR Reading Challenge again. This year, my goal is 25 prompts. Last year I completed 45 prompts but struggled and got a bit frustrated, so I am not pushing myself this year.

  1. Hi,

I’m writing in the hope you’ll consider reviewing my latest novel, “Yuri & the Pig” (87,000 words published by Wild Wolf Publishing), a work of fiction based on the current war in Ukraine. However, the countries involved are fictitious, too.

    Here is some more information:

    Amazon link: https://mybook.to/ynp

    The following is the blurb:

“From the best-selling author of the Charlie Smithers adventures.

A farmer and his pig set off on an extraordinary quest across war-torn Eastern Europe.

Entangled in a savage war, the country of Xoraina is fighting for its very existence; but to Yuri, a simple peasant from a remote mountain village, it seems all but certain that the invading Zlaimperians must ultimately prevail. Not that it is of any consequence to him, of course. In Yuri’s view, every form of government is equally bad, so it makes very little difference who holds the reins of power. Indeed, throughout time, the only things that have ever really mattered are that the soil be tilled, the cows milked, and the pigs shipped to market, all in a timely fashion.

But when an exorbitant new tax threatens that philosophy, he sets off with his pig across the war-ravaged land to the Capital in order to fight the injustice. In the process, their journey becomes a road to a terrible enlightenment, causing Yuri to question his deeply seated beliefs. But only when he and his pig find themselves placed squarely in destiny’s path is there any hope of those questions finding answers.”

If interested, please contact me at clovatt@xplornet.ca and I’ll arrange for you to receive an e-copy in the format you prefer.

    Thank you for your time.

BOTM Prediction - April 2022

Hey bookworms! We have had a rough couple of weeks in our household, my youngest daughter started with a stomach bug then it went to my oldest daughter then to my husband then to me, which is why I am sharing my predictions later than usual. Last month 3 of my predictions were picks (yay) and I was so excited. I chose 2, The Paris Apartment and The Book of Cold Cases . Did anyone else choose these?   It's always fun putting a list together and seeing all the upcoming releases. I'm adding a max of 3 books for each genre again. Remember these are just predictions. Might be a BOTM pick, might not . Enjoy! Historical Fiction The Good Left Undone by Adriana Trigiani Matelda, the Cabrelli family's matriarch, has always been brusque and opinionated. Now, as she faces the end of her life, she is determined to share a long-held secret with her family about her own mother's great love story: with her childhood friend, Silvio, and with dashing Scottish sea captain John Lawrie Mc

Razorblade Tears by S.A. Cosby

Synopsis: A Black father. A white father. Two murdered sons. A quest for vengeance. Ike Randolph has been out of jail for fifteen years, with not so much as a speeding ticket in all that time. But a Black man with cops at the door knows to be afraid. The last thing he expects to hear is that his son Isiah has been murdered, along with Isiah’s white husband, Derek. Ike had never fully accepted his son but is devastated by his loss. Derek’s father Buddy Lee was almost as ashamed of Derek for being gay as Derek was ashamed his father was a criminal. Buddy Lee still has contacts in the underworld, though, and he wants to know who killed his boy. Ike and Buddy Lee, two ex-cons with little else in common other than a criminal past and a love for their dead sons, band together in their desperate desire for revenge. In their quest to do better for their sons in death than they did in life, hardened men Ike and Buddy Lee will confront their own prejudices about their sons and each other, as t

BOTM Prediction - February 2022

Hello again! Changed up the formatting a bit, which is why things are looking a bit different. Here are my predictions for February's BOTM picks! Again, these are just guesses nothing concrete. I know I added quite a few Add-Ons but this was hard, so many good books coming out soon!  ROMANCE Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson Savannah Cade is a low-level editor at Pennington Publishing, a prestigious publisher producing only the highest of highbrow titles. And while editing the latest edition of The Anthology of Medieval Didactic Poetry may be her day job, she has two secrets she’s hiding. One: She’s writing a romance novel. Two: She’s discovered the Book Nook—a secret room in the publishing house where she finds inspiration for her “lowbrow” hobby. After leaving her manuscript behind one afternoon, she returns to the nook only to discover someone has written notes in the margins. Savannah’s first response to the criticism is defensive, but events transpire that force her t
