Reading Goals

Hey bookish Friends! I have changed up my reading goals and challenges for this year. I know I had a series challenge, a book to screen challenge and even a read everything by the author challenge, but I realized that not only is that just too much pressure, I also have a ton of books in my shelves at home that I need to get to! My goal for the year is a bit easier now because I want reading to be fun, not an assignment. My new reading goals are below:

I will prioritize my book club reads. My book club reads are below in the order that they will be read.

September 2024 - Lock Every Door
October 2024 - Scythe
November 2024 - Before I Let Go
December 2024 - Just Last Night
January 2025 - Mexican Gothic
February 2025 - The Inmate

I will also start working on my PHYSICAL TBR SHELFI realized that I have 150+ books in my house that I have not read. So I will be reading from those this year.

I told myself that I would not purchase anymore books this year but that is kind of a lie, there will be BOTM books coming in monthly. I refuse to cancel my subscription. Also, my best-friend is buying me books monthly via the The Book Drop, thank you best-friend. I am trying to purchase books from my TBR shelf for her so that we can do some more buddy-reads even though we are in a book club together and will be reading The Book Drop books together. I'm just addicted to buying books. I am also addicted to reading books. If anyone wants to fuel my addiction my amazon bookish wish-list is right here

Last but not least, I will also join POPSUGAR Reading Challenge again. This year, my goal is 25 prompts.

  1. Hi,

I’m writing in the hope you’ll consider reviewing my latest novel, “Yuri & the Pig” (87,000 words published by Wild Wolf Publishing), a work of fiction based on the current war in Ukraine. However, the countries involved are fictitious, too.

    Here is some more information:

    Amazon link: https://mybook.to/ynp

    The following is the blurb:

“From the best-selling author of the Charlie Smithers adventures.

A farmer and his pig set off on an extraordinary quest across war-torn Eastern Europe.

Entangled in a savage war, the country of Xoraina is fighting for its very existence; but to Yuri, a simple peasant from a remote mountain village, it seems all but certain that the invading Zlaimperians must ultimately prevail. Not that it is of any consequence to him, of course. In Yuri’s view, every form of government is equally bad, so it makes very little difference who holds the reins of power. Indeed, throughout time, the only things that have ever really mattered are that the soil be tilled, the cows milked, and the pigs shipped to market, all in a timely fashion.

But when an exorbitant new tax threatens that philosophy, he sets off with his pig across the war-ravaged land to the Capital in order to fight the injustice. In the process, their journey becomes a road to a terrible enlightenment, causing Yuri to question his deeply seated beliefs. But only when he and his pig find themselves placed squarely in destiny’s path is there any hope of those questions finding answers.”

If interested, please contact me at clovatt@xplornet.ca and I’ll arrange for you to receive an e-copy in the format you prefer.

    Thank you for your time.

BOTM Prediction - February 2022

Hello again! Changed up the formatting a bit, which is why things are looking a bit different. Here are my predictions for February's BOTM picks! Again, these are just guesses nothing concrete. I know I added quite a few Add-Ons but this was hard, so many good books coming out soon!  ROMANCE Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson Savannah Cade is a low-level editor at Pennington Publishing, a prestigious publisher producing only the highest of highbrow titles. And while editing the latest edition of The Anthology of Medieval Didactic Poetry may be her day job, she has two secrets she’s hiding. One: She’s writing a romance novel. Two: She’s discovered the Book Nook—a secret room in the publishing house where she finds inspiration for her “lowbrow” hobby. After leaving her manuscript behind one afternoon, she returns to the nook only to discover someone has written notes in the margins. Savannah’s first response to the criticism is defensive, but events transpire that force her t...

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

The legend begins... Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals. When word comes that Helen of Sparta has been kidnapped, the men of Greece, bound by blood and oath, must lay siege to Troy in her name. Seduced by the promise of a glorious destiny, Achilles joins their cause, and torn between love and fear for his friend, Patroclus follows. Little do they know that the Fates will test them both as never before and demand a terrible sacrifice. Built on the g...

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston

Synopsis: For cynical twenty-three-year-old August, moving to New York City is supposed to prove her right: that things like magic and cinematic love stories don’t exist, and the only smart way to go through life is alone. She can’t imagine how waiting tables at a 24-hour pancake diner and moving in with too many weird roommates could possibly change that. And there’s certainly no chance of her subway commute being anything more than a daily trudge through boredom and electrical failures. But then, there’s this gorgeous girl on the train. Jane. Dazzling, charming, mysterious, impossible Jane. Jane with her rough edges and swoopy hair and soft smile, showing up in a leather jacket to save August’s day when she needed it most. August’s subway crush becomes the best part of her day, but pretty soon, she discovers there’s one big problem: Jane doesn’t just look like an old school punk rocker. She’s literally displaced in time from the 1970s, and August is going to have to use everyth...
